Hammer the Blunt Instrument: Warforged Battlerager Fighter • Appearance: Hammer is, as is common for most Warforged, made of a combination of stone, wood, and metal. He does, however modify his body extensively. He has forgone most of his outer shell, leaving many of his cordlike muscles exposed, and on those are as strong as chainmail. Because of his hammer fixation, he has hammered his chainmail to his body, and also on his head. He also has metal plates that he has hammered nails in them and bent them slightly, giving the illusion of hair. He is of slight build, a bit shorter than most of his brethren at little under 5’10”, but makes up for it in ferocity. He carries a Craghammer and a large shield, both made by himself in the fires of the Cogs. • Biography: Hammer was born, or rather made, in a lesser-known foundry in the Cogs, below the city of Sharn, which was owned by an eccentric Human Artificer by the name of Asha il’Cannith, a disowned member of House Cannith. Her foundry made Warforged in a different way than most other, in that it made so that the Warforged could survive better in the heat and therefore have muscles as strong as chainmail armor. It is there that Hammer learned to make instruments of war and of wealth, there in the fires. Asha was very kind to her creations, giving them freedom in return for one year of service. After these initial years, where Hammer learned how much he enjoyed the tectonic thrill of hammering, inspiring Asha give him the title of Blunt Instrument, he went to the surface to seek his fortune. Eventually, he got a job with house Deneith, who found his gung-ho attitude of smashing things useful in their line of work. It is there that he teamed up with his other adventurers to fight during the last war. In the four years after this, he returned to the Cogs, helping Asha and his Warforged brothers make a living. • Personality: Hammer is, as his title clearly states, very blunt. Years of life in the Cogs has made him very cynical about the world, and will tell anyone who will listen how horrible the world really is. He is not very good in dealing with people, as they don’t do what he wants them to do when he smashes them. He has a very good eye for crafts, but is more interested in making them himself, as therein lies the thrill of hammering that he likes. He has no patience for anything else, however, and will only do something that doesn’t involve hammering if it is promised that there will be hammering in the future. • Goals: Hammer wants nothing in life to pursue his hammering lust. He does, however, want nothing better than to help his creator Asha, fulfill her dreams, and sends her money to help her. • Likes: Hammers, Hammering, making things with hammers • Dislikes: Not hammering, being bored, being conflicted. • Relationships: Hammer has an almost mother-son relationship with his creator, Asha. He also is in good company with his many “brothers” and “sisters” at the forge, with the exception of one Nihil the Renegade, whose hate for non-warforged compelled him to run away from the Foundry and make pacts with spirits long dead, with the hope of one day defeating the “flesh bags” and making a new all-warforged order on Sharn. Hammer at least tolerates his adventuring group, for it is with them he can pursue his passion for hammering, but only if they let him. Otherwise, he becomes very moody and cynical, as he is forced to think.
